LEURA STUDIO UPDATE: 20th March 2020
Singing lessons and Vocal Ensemble rehearsal will go ahead as normal today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).
One-on-one singing lessons will take place inside the studio and the Vocal Ensemble rehearsal will take place outside in the garden.
The health and safety of students and their families is my top priority and it is important that everyone takes sensible steps to protect themselves during this time. I am taking every precaution during singing lessons and group rehearsals and I ask for your cooperation in minimising risks also.
Students and parents, I will continue to update you on Vocalocity’s approach to the Coronavirus as more information becomes available. I am still awaiting confirmation as to how to proceed with remote learning for students in Orange, so please continue to check your emails and our website for updates.
Thank you and best wishes to you all,
P.s. I hope you enjoy my little pun in the music choice to this video! 😝 #soap
DATE OF RELEASE: 13th March 2020
Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Dear Vocalocity community members,
I am closely monitoring information released from authorities including the Australian Government Department of Health, NSW Health and NSW Department of Education. In recent days there has been an escalation of the COVID-19 situation globally and closer to home in NSW.
In the wake of the news that Katoomba High School is non-operational today (Friday 13 March 2020) due to a member of the school community having tested positive for COVID-19, I have decided to cancel this afternoon’s Leura Vocal Ensemble rehearsal. As authorities have advised self-isolation for members of the Katoomba High School community throughout today and over the coming weekend, KHS students of mine are kindly requested to not attend their scheduled lessons today and tomorrow.
The health and safety of students and their families is my top priority and it is important that everyone takes sensible steps to protect themselves during this time. I will be taking every precaution during singing lessons and vocal ensemble rehearsals and I ask for your cooperation in minimising risks also.
Doors and windows will be left open where possible.
Regular and thorough hand-washing is a must. All students are requested to please wash your hands with soap and water (check out this fun resource: https://washyourlyrics.com/) or use alcohol-based hand rub prior to attending lessons.
Lip and tongue trill exercises will be replaced with humming, ‘ng’ slides etc. and microphones will not be used until further notice.
Please do not attend lessons if you feel unwell or if you develop any cold or flu-like symptoms. According to the Department of Health if you develop even a mild cough or low grade fever, you are required to stay at home and follow the Australian Government’s Isolation Guidance. You should also not attend lessons if you have had to take medications such as paracetamol/acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin, which may mask symptoms of infection.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this fluid situation.
