Director at Vocalocity Pty Ltd.
Amelia Nell is the owner and principal singing teacher at Vocalocity. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Australian Institute of Music and a Certificate IV in Popular Music & Performance from JMC Academy, as well as several voice specialty certifications including Estill Voice Training levels.
In addition to teaching private singing lessons specialising in contemporary music styles, Amelia also has a great passion for choral directing, writing and arranging. Choirs and small vocal ensembles under her direction have achieved numerous successes in Eisteddfods and other competition settings including an exciting first place win for the Vocalocity Leura Vocal Ensemble in The Australian Choral Challenge (Open Group) at the 2017 Australian National Eisteddfod in Canberra and earning a spot on the national stage of AUSACA 2018 (The Australian A Cappella Awards) in Melbourne.
Amelia is committed to ongoing professional development in multiple areas concerning music education, voice science and vocal pedagogy and regularly attends industry accredited workshops and conferences. She is a Contemporary Vocal Tutor at The Orange Regional Conservatorium of Music, teaches at Kinross Wolaroi School, has been a vocal tutor for the Australian Girls Choir and is involved with the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS). Amelia is also a member of the Australian Voice Association (AVA) and the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA).
Amelia's holistic approach to singing teaching and choir directing ensures that her students learn in a positive, supportive, understanding and nurturing environment. She fosters the individuality of each singer, strives to instil a sense of confidence and wellbeing and encourages them to express themselves through creativity.
“Amelia is an amazing vocal coach that I couldn’t ask more of! If you’re looking to expand your vocal horizons, I would highly recommend you have lessons with Amelia! I started off only looking to expand my backing vocals as I was a guitarist in a band and Amelia has helped me find and work on a voice for my own lead vocals as well as develop confidence in singing which is something I thought I'd never be able to do!”
“Over the past 4 years that I have been singing with Amelia, I’ve seen a journey that has lead to some of my best memories and proudest achievements. Often putting in her own time and I assume much of her sanity, Amelia drags us towards vocal success and managed to land me on the HSC Honour Roll for Music 1. If that isn't a testament to both her strength of will and her ability as a teacher I don’t know what is. As one who’s been a small part of this journey, it is difficult to express the true impact that Amelia and Vocalocity has had on all of us; both as musicians and as people. To Amelia I say thank you from us all, for the incredible memories that will be cherished forever (or at least until we make new ones at the next rehearsal).“
